Queensland is fortunate to have a no-fault workers’ compensation scheme in place. That means, if you sustained an injury during the course of your employment, including whilst driving between your home and place of employment and irrespective of whether you or anyone else is at fault for the circumstances giving rise to the injury (provided you did not intentionally cause the injury), you may be entitled to receive statutory compensation from WorkCover Queensland or from your employer in the event it is self-insured.
One of the pre-conditions to receiving statutory compensation is that you must be considered an employee, as distinct from an independent contractor.
