Success in the Brisbane Magistrates Court

Elliot Boddice of our office, prepared and appeared with Pat Wilson, Barrister today in the Brisbane Magistrates Court for a committal hearing. Our client was charged with wounding. The charge of wounding carries a maximum penalty of seven years imprisonment. People convicted of wounding often face actual imprisonment. Today, before the Magistrates Court the Prosecution applied to adjourn the case, which meant more uncertainty for our client, and further delay. Our team successfully opposed the adjournment, which lead to a situation where the Prosecution offered no evidence, and the charge was dismissed.

An excellent result, considering our client was facing a District Court trial well into 2017, and the prospect of going to jail, when he otherwise had no criminal history.
