People smuggling – application for leave to appeal against sentence

14 December 2015

Fisher Dore Lawyers

Fisher Dore appeared for Mr K, who pleaded guilty to facilitating the bringing to Australia of a group of non-citizens and travelled to Australia without visas. He was sentenced to 6.5 years imprisonment with a non-parole period of 4 years.

Mr K sought leave to appeal against the sentence on the grounds that it was manifestly excessive, and that the sentencing judge erred in the treatment of certain factors.
