People smuggling – appeal against conviction

01 March 2016

Fisher Dore Lawyers

Fisher Dore appeared for Mr Z. He and two other appellants were convicted of facilitating the bringing to Australia of a group of non-citizens. Mr Z appealed against his conviction on the grounds that his conviction was unsafe and unsatisfactory.

Fisher Dore was responsible for persuading the Court that Mr Z’s conviction was unreasonable and not supported by the evidence. As such, his conviction was set aside and a verdict of acquittal ordered.
